Safety Instrument Department is a professional inspection, scientific research and standardized test department. Its predecessor was the sixth research center of FuShun branch of Coal Research Institute. As one of the main part, it founded China National Quality Supervision & Test Center for Explosion-Proof and Safety Products for Coal Mine(CMExC) in August 1988.In 2008 the center’s intrinsically safe professional group of explosion-proof test station and instrument test station reconstructed the Safety Instrument Department.
    After more than twenty years’ development, the scope covers mine, Petroleum and Chemical instrument, mine lamp, monitoring system and equipment, communications system and equipment, rescue equipment and so on. The department has six professional group, including instrument, monitoring, communication, mine lamp, large power battery test, rescue and intrinsically safe. The scope of authority has extended to 156 items from 43 items. Mainly undertake Safety Mark inspection, national supervision inspection, entrustment inspection, measurement type evaluation and IECEx inspection.

     Scientific research and standardization are the important work. Secretariat of coal mine gas detection and rescue equipment branch and explosion-proof technology and equipment branch of coal industry standardization coal mine safety technical committee is located here. It has drafted more than 120 national and professional standards, completed 5 national research projects, 7 institute projects and got 5 national patents. It makes a prominent contribution to the development of instrument inspection technology and equipment.
    For many years, it was not only completed inspection, scientific research, standardization and the laboratory construction but also cultivated more coal mine safety instrumentation and explosion-proof technology academic leader famous at home and abroad, such as FuShuling and YuJin.
In order to adapt to the development of inspection and extend the scope， enrolls more university graduates and scientific researchers to establish a reasonable structure inspection team. It has 2 persons with doctor degree and 10 persons with master degree, The department has 30 inspectors, including 2 research fellows, 4 senior engineers, 11 engineers and 5 certified safety engineers.
It has more than 5000 square meters and advanced equipments and instruments. It has gas meter lab, climate environment lab, mechanical environment lab, wind environment lab, EMC lab, large capacity battery lab, mine lamp lab, instrument comprehensive lab, belt machine lab, monitoring systems lab, video system lab, personnel management system lab, communication system lab, rescue equipment lab, medicine lab, spark lab, IP lab, small components ignition lab, CTI&PCB lab, surface resistance & temperature lab and voltage & auxiliary lab, etc.
